I don’t normally post about day’s out but I thought this was worth a quick mention. Yesterday, my wife and I wanted to take my little boy for a day out and we decided on the York Maze. I don’t know what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. The York Maze is only really open during the summer months as it is growing the crop for the maze the rest of the year.  It is based on a farm on the outskirts of york.

It was big but not too big and perfect for kids of any ages but it offered image something a little different to the usual rides and theme parks. It has several farm animals on site and they have regular pig racing events which were hilarious – I actually thought the guy running with the food was going to get knocked over as he had to sprint the whole way. Basically, the pigs were rather fast.

There was also several huge inflatables for the kids to play on including an inflatable pillow, quad bikes, an adventure play park, a water war section and a crow tour which has to be experienced. It included a hunt for the crows that stole the crop and Mr and Mrs Scarecrow coming out and speaking to the children and then shooting us all with water. My little boy loved this the most. All in all it was different but very good fun. It was further helped with some good weather for once.

If you want to see how the lay out looks check this out. The only downside I can see is the entrance fee as it cost £29 for me, my wife and my 3 year-old son but if your children are younger than 3 they get in free. That said I think it was worth it as he loved the day and didn’t want to go home.
